I would like to plug the Tat though. I'm not associated with Battats in any way, except that I own one. It is truly a good tool. You have to really be clutzy to manage to tat yourself with it, because it has a switch that you hold down to tattoo. Release the switch, the power stops.
It is one of the toughest machines I've ever owned. I'm rough on equipment--I leave stuff out in the rain, cram it in my purse (along with that half-stick of unwrapped chewing gum), drop it, step on it...my tools just don't last long.
The BatTat, however, has survived the worst I can dish out. I've dropped it on cement floors, then skidded it halfway across the room by kicking it while trying to pick it up. I've dropped it in the compost heap. My horse has chewed on it and stepped on it. It's been left out in the rain; it's been left uncleaned for months after using it. It has survived my purse, my pocket and even being stuffed into the cushion in my truck for two months (those were a couple of frantic months!). My BatTat works as well today as it did the first day I bought it.
Yes, the Tat is kinda expensive. However, you never have to buy new letters to go with it. :) You can't drop and scatter all the digits in a pile of rabbit poop. You don't have to worry about your rabbits breaking their backs--very, very few rabbits react strongly to it.
On my first and last attempt to use a clamp tattooer, I broke the pliers (guess my hands are stronger than I thought). My BatTat, however, remains unbroken after hundreds of tattoos.

PS: I have seen, and used, several imitations that were cheaper. I've even made one. They don't compare to the BatTat for durability and ease.
